How to Get an Overview and Use it to Create Value

mt_ignore:By Jesper Dybvad Olesen

After you have obtained an overview in a field of your interest, you know where to go.

Everyone wants an overview on a specific matter at one time or another
Your intuition may tell you that an overview in a field of your interest could lead you to create more value or new values.

Most people find it difficult to explain accurately what an overview is and how to get it.
It's simple: an overview is a sum of selected and relevant insights.

Since it is challenging to assemble a proper overview, this article offers you a helpful approach in 3 steps.
The approach works for most people in almost any aspect of life and the approach is called

LEARN LEAP LEAN

Any overview must have a solid base and a proper content and size.
The past holds the bases with the whole amount of insights that you have.

If insights are missing, you could do more investigation.
You could also become a member of a complete team because insights come from you, your team colleagues and other people.

Action is all

David Taylor @thenakedleader on Twitter once wrote,
»Thoughts, words and ideas are powerful things indeed...action is all«.

Here, the action is putting together relevant insights in a minimum duration of time.
This approach in 3 steps will help you obtaining a solid overview and then take further fruitful action.

1: get more insights from more bases while keeping focus on where you want to go.
Learn from past failures and successes
– and do learn different methods of solution to relevant challenges.

2: keep on repeating the cycle of researching, experimenting, measuring and revising.
Leap to where you want to go
– and do leap with a core essence of insights, thorough thinking and a prototype.

3: use open-ended questions because the best way of action will bring you forward.
Lean is a simple and time-saving process, which at first makes you focus on four questions:

1. What are the demands or needs that products or services are going to fulfil?
2. Who are the existing and the potential customers or clients?
3. What are the test results of your prototype?
4. What are the risks?

What does your prototype look like?

A prototype is usually a concrete and workable thing.
It may also be a drawing with descriptions on a piece of paper.

A prototype represents your first major leap forward.
After doing that, you are ready for more planning and your next steps in your on-going process.

Who is in your team?

You are responsible for managing the resources of your team the best way possible.
This kind of action brings success and some characteristics exist.

•  The style of contact and communication between team members must be strong and efficient.
•  Insights and equipments must be managed with abilities and skills.
•  Decision-making must be done within hours, minutes or even seconds in extreme situations.

Do focus

Team members have various roles to fill out.
It is easier to determine what is solid and what is proper when matters are approached from a distance.

At least one team member could maintain an ideal focusing range by Socratic questioning.
This is the kind of primary action that will provide insights in your field of interest.

Learn Leap Lean is an approach that works for everyone in business, education and other parts of life.
Getting a solid and proper overview will lead to success for yourself, your team and your organization.
